Accessibility statement
This is an epilepsy awareness site, so accessibility isn't an afterthought here — it's part of the point. The goal is to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, and this page is an honest account of what's actually been built and tested toward that, not just a promise.
What's already built in
- Color contrast is checked by an automated test across every page, in both light and dark themes, before anything ships.
- Touch targets — every button, link, and control is checked against the 48×48px minimum tap-target size on mobile.
- Full keyboard access — every menu, dropdown, toggle, and interactive control can be reached and operated without a mouse, with a visible focus outline at every step, plus a "skip to content" link for screen-reader and keyboard users.
- Motion sensitivity — this site respects your operating system's
prefers-reduced-motionsetting, and the one optional ambient effect (ambient thunder sound) is off by default and only ever starts after an explicit click. - Descriptive alt text on every meaningful image, and a logical heading structure (one
<h1>per page, nested<h2>/<h3>below it) so screen-reader users can navigate by heading. - A built-in accessibility toolbar — click the person icon in the navigation bar on any page to adjust contrast, font size, spacing, and more, powered by UserWay.
Known limitations
A few pieces of this site are embedded from third parties and outside direct control: the Instagram feed and Facebook Page plugin on the Community page render whatever markup those platforms serve. If either one gives you trouble, the fallback links right next to them (straight to the Instagram/Facebook profiles) always work.
Something not working for you?
If you hit a barrier anywhere on this site — a control you can't reach, text you can't read, anything — please tell Kevin directly. Every message gets read, and accessibility bugs get treated as real bugs, not nice-to-haves.
